China silk lining swing tacked to the garment skirt, which is made of vintage silk handkerchiefs
The dress’s construction was relatively straightforward, being a typical 1920’s day dress. The skirt was carefully knife pleated into the bodice and secured with a row of basting to maintain the pleats’ integrity.

To achieve the desired shape, the embroidered fashion fabric was supplemented by additional black tulle and flowers
Basic draping and pleat arrangement
Meticulous fussy cutting and hand stitching floral appliques to achieve the coverage desired by the designer
Heavy beading stabilised by a black cotton backing; closure of three opera hooks at centre front
Additional stabilising with black twill across the back and snaps added to secure the cape and dress together
